The John Chin Young Endowed Scholarship
For Graduate students and Junior and Senior Undergraduates pursuing a degree in a field related to the arts and/or education
Undergraduates:
* Up to $2,500 per year towards tuition
Graduates:
* Up to $5,000 per year towards tuition for three or four continuous semesters
* Stipend of up to $500 per year for recipients active in their own classroom or student teaching
to purchase art supplies/equipment for their classroom
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate:
* Classified, full-time degree-seeking students.
* Junior or Senior level with one year left before graduation or students in final term of student
teaching.
* A graduate of a Hawai‘i high school.
Graduate:
* Fully accepted into either the Master of Education degree program or the State approved Licensure
program.
* Proficiency in the arts demonstrated in previous undergraduate or graduate classes
* Preference for a graduate of a Hawai‘i high school

Graduate:
* New applicants should submit the following:
~A completed application form.
~A two page personal statement including your experiences with the arts and your plans to share
the arts with your students. A description of your career objectives and your academic plan
reflecting all course work through graduation.
~Two letters of recommendation: one must be from an education instructor. The other may be
from a pastor, employer or advisor.
~Your most recent grade transcript if applicable.
* Renewal applicants should submit the following:
~A completed application form
~A personal statement indicating the benefits of the scholarship and the difference it will make on
your ability to use the arts in education.

Application Deadline: March 1
Notification
The committee chairperson shall notify recipients of their selection. The Financial Aid Office at Chaminade University shall arrange for payment of the scholarship.
